Melissa Upton
Melissa Upton has worked in various aspects of the environmental field for more than 20 years. Most recently she pursued her long time interest and passion for all things solar by studying photovoltaics and joining the Fafco Solar sales team. She is thrilled to be helping people move toward the use of solar energy with excellent products that are good for the environment and good for the pocketbook.
Melissa has lived in Southwest Florida since 1997. She was a member of the original team at the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program that created a comprehensive conservation and management plan for a large watershed area in southern Florida. After helping to launch the plan she joined the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation as their nature center manager; she worked on Sanibel Island for nine years until forging a new path in the field of solar energy. Melissa has also lived and worked overseas on coastal management projects in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Human Ecology from Connecticut College and a Masters in Geography and Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island. In the solar field she received the PV Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practioners (NABCEP).
When Melissa is not promoting solar energy she is enjoying life and staying very busy with her son Thaddeus. They like travel, sports, reading and learning, gardening, and hanging out with their two cats, Mimi and Kiki.
