Cape Coral, FL — June 10, 2011 — Cape Coral solar company, Fafco Solar announced that, beginning June 21, 2011, FPL will begin offering a rebate for solar electric (Photovoltaic) and solar domestic hot water systems. Due to limited funding, the rebates are available on a first come, first serve basis. The rebate fund for this year is anticipated to be gone in as little as one day based on responses to similar programs. Rebates will require an application, a contractor, and pre-approval, so early planning is critical for those who wish to apply.
“We are very excited about this rebate from FPL, and the encouragement of environmental sustainability through the use of solar energy. We hope that other companies, such as LCEC, may consider offering a similar rebate to their customers in the near future,” said Dan Morrissey, Fafco Solar. “Because these rebates are limited and in such a high demand, its imperative for people to be the first in line and ensure they have the opportunity to take advantage of the savings. We currently have representatives available to help people through the application process, in order to give them the best chance of qualifying for this incentive.”
The FPL rebate for photovaltaic systems is $2 per installed watt of solar power with a limit of $20,000 for residential customers and $50,000 for businesses. Typically, a 5 kilowatt residential grid-tied system would qualify for a $10,000 rebate and a solar water heating systems would qualify for a $1,000 rebate. This FPL rebate is in addition to an existent Federal Tax Credit of 30%, making it a very attractive incentive for Florida residents to utilize solar energy.
