Our Story - The First 35 Years
Fafco Solar, a Cape Coral solar energy company, is a family business that has been serving SW Florida since 1974.
Dan Morrissey, the second generation owner started installing solar pool heaters for his father, Ward Morrissey, Jr., in 1975. That is when pool owners were turning off their gas heaters during the energy crisis of the early 70’s.
"This is an exciting time to be in the renewable energy business. In fact, you’d have to be crazy not to be crazy about solar energy these days,” says Morrissey, laughing at himself.
Now, over 40 years later, we have reached a very special time in our history. The third generation, Ian Morrissey is gearing up to take over the company.

Fafco Solar - Timeline
1974 - Solar Pool Heaters of Southwest Florida was founded by Ward J. Morrissey, Jr.
1977 - Became exclusive Authorized FAFCO Distributor for Southwest Florida.
1980 - Incorporated under the name Solar Pool Heaters, Inc.
1982 - First company in Southwest Florida to receive a Florida State Certified Solar Contractor's license (CWC022619).
1983 - Started doing business under the name Fafco Solar.
2002 - Nominated for Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award.
2008- Fafco Solar Installs Their First PV System
2009 - Celebrating 35 years of serving Southwest Florida.
2014 - Recipient of Angie's List Super Service Award.
2015 - Recipient of Angie's List Super Service Award.
