FAQ
A solar pool pump uses 2‐4 (depending on your needs) photovoltaic (solar electric) panels on your roof. This application is ideal because the actual pump motor uses DC power that the panels produce. There is no need to convert the power to household electrical current.
The pump can be added to your existing pool pump. It can also be the sole pump and have an AC adapter added. This allows you to continue to use the pump and any water or maintenance features you may have when it is cloudy or raining.

A pool pump can account for approximately 30% of your homes electricity. A PV pump is a cost effective way to utilize solar electric products without investing in a whole house system. Of course should you choose to add a grid tied or whole house system, the solar pump would be a great addition.
In addition to saving you money, your solar pump will run whenever the sun is out. It will make your pool cleaner and circulate more water in a day. The pump can be used as a stand alone or be added to your pool equipment. Either way your needs, even at night or a cloudy day, will be met.

A standard pool pump can account for up to 30% of the total electric usage of a home. A typical pool pump can cost a home owner $40 to $70 a month to operate. A Solar Pool Pump can eliminate that amount entirely! There are several parameters (size, usage, etc) that we will need to know in order to give you an accurate installation cost. Once your new solar pool pump is installed, the sun will power your pump from sun up - to sun down at no cost. Frank Sinatra was right when he sang "The best things in life are FREE!"

Since the variable‐speed motor operates in direct proportion to the amount of sunlight landing on the roof mounted solar panels, the motor will be affected by:
- Clouds passing overhead ~ will make the motor will run slower
- Cloudy or rainy weather ~ the motor will run slower or stop completely
- Night time ~ the motor will stop completely
However, when we install your Solar Pool Pump, we can provide you with two solutions to those "no sunlight situations":
- Auxiliary Pump ~ this is an option if your standard pool pump is left in place
- Inverter and Battery Pack ~ can be used to power you through the low light/no light times
